Adel Shields Glasgow, 98, of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at Autumn Care in Nashville, NC.

Adel was a native of Eton, Georgia, born September 27, 1914 to the late Robert Christopher Shields and Rosalie Evans Shields. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Edgar Glasgow, on August 30, 1995. Adel worked in the textile industry in Dalton, GA for forty years, then retiring from J. C. Penney in 1979. She was a member of Weldon Baptist Church; she loved her church and her friends.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mildred G. Rose and her husband, Winfield, of Stuarts Draft, VA; her brother-in-law, Robert S. Glasgow and his wife, Ethel, of Halifax; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Monday, March 25, at 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Keith Thomason will be officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
